Slaad

Based on the slaad race as described in the Fiend Folio and other D&D source materials, in our campaign these creatures are the descendants of a servitor species created aeons ago by the Great Old One Chaugnar Faugn during a period he spent on earth. Once much more numerous on earth, the remaining slaad reside in a kingdom of their own, which can be found in the dense, humid jungles of the Vendhya peninsula. Known as Ssendam, this wilderness area remains unclaimed and shunned by the human rulers of Vendhya, Ghanara and Kosala. Contact between the Slaadi kingdom and these neighbouring lands is limited, but Vendhyan worshippers of Bel consider Ssendam to be the birthplace of their deity and a few of the most devout and most adventurous Bel cultists from the cities of Vendhya are prepared to travel there in search of enlightenment.

Another species related to these creatures is the semi-human Tcho-Tcho race, descended from the products of mating between slaad and primitive, jungle-dwelling humans of the eastern Vendhyan peninsula.
