Thuria and Beyond
Thuria is the name given to the north-western part of the great continent on which our campaign starts. Comprising the so-called Great Kingdoms of Aquilonia, Argonia, Brythunia, Korunia, Nemedia, Ophir, Zingara and Zamara, Thuria has a common culture and a shared history.
The name Thuria is derived from the name of the principal deity of a mostly-forgotten pre- Mitraic religion that was purportedly widespread across the north-west. Little is now known about that deity or about life in the region before the Treaty of the Church of Mitra. This is precisely because the Church prefers it that way. Once the treaty between eight kingdoms enshrined the religious and cultural dominance of the church, this heralded the deliberate destruction of pre-Mitraic texts, artefacts and religious sites.
